Richard Yeboah’s header after 57 minutes crowned Kotoko’s season and cemented their place as 2011/2012 Ghana Premier League champions. The reds beat Tema Youth 1-0 on Sunday in front of a raucous home crowd in Kumasi. It’s now the 21st title for Kotoko, and the atmosphere was joyous from start to finish. The catalyst for the winner was this season’s impact sub for the reds, Kofi Nti-Boakye, who came on for Stephen Oduro. The player raced down the left before stepping over and using his weaker left foot to lob into the penalty box. Yeboah was there to head through a diving header. But the man of the match was Gideon Baah at left back, who gave Tema Youth a lot of trouble in his position, midfield and even upfront. Maxwell Konadu started Ben Acheampong who has been called up for Ghana’s double header with Lesotho and Zambia in early June.
